Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School

Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School, founded in April 1989, is located in the green corner of Komabano, Tokyo. The school takes advantage of the cosmopolitan characteristics of Tokyo and sets in goal to develop well-balanced students with an international perspective. Kokusai High School seeks to mature its students and strengthen their ability to reason as well as develop a strong foreign language competency so they can become active and respected members of the world community. Kokusai High School is a unique school in that it has been given the role of developing teaching methods and materials that focus on the education of international understanding and to share its fruits with other Tokyo Metropolitan high schools.

Our curriculum, designed to achieve its goal, consists of two areas: General Subject Areas and Specialized Subject Areas, with an emphasis on fostering a better international outlook, which characterizes our school.

Our students body is a colorful mosaic of youths from various backgrounds: graduates of junior high schools in Tokyo, children of foreign residents in Tokyo, and returnee students from abroad who have studied in Japanese international or local schools. Courses are carefully designed to meet each student's needs and enhance his/her special qualities such as their international viewpoints and linguistic abilities attained through their multi-cultural experiences. In a harmonious, yet very lively atmosphere, staff and faculty members strive to offer the best educational environment possible for the students to become true world citizens.

School Vision

3 The rearing of young people well-trained in body and mind, who share a desire to participate actively in international society.
